I am a big aficionado of memes, both for their humor and the fact they drive home a point succinctly and visually. I collect them and use them in my teaching at UNC as well as often in communications.

In this edition of the newsletter, I’ve collected a number of memes about AI, some of which I created. While some (many?) are a little dark, I hope you enjoy them and share with others if you think they will enjoy as well.

But ChatGPT has some downsides.

In the meantime, every company is pouring money into AI…

Even Meta has gotten into it.

Companies are trying to figure out what this means for their strategy.

Some companies have a long-term strategy.

Meanwhile, universities are trying to avoid cheating.

Parents are wondering if college can be replaced by AI.

Philosophers are asking what more powerful AI says about what it means to be human.

And we are all a bit worried about our jobs.

Even coders.

Each day we last is a good one.

But some people are losing out.

So if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.

But don’t succumb to the ultimate temptation.

The big debate now is if we should pause AI deployment because we don’t know what might ultimately happen.

But it’s a tough choice.
